OMG MIGRAINE FROM HELL.

2:30 am...fire alarm...evacuation onto the street....

Took a while for the fire department to show up, especially since they are literally a block away. I can pretty much stand on the street corner and see them. Still it took them more time than necessary to come to the conclusion that it was a false alarm.

Mean while, the wonderful residences of the Vogel house stood on the street perplexed, speculating as to which burnt dish manged to set off the alarm this time...

A bum or other vagrant stood on the sidewalk mixed in among the residences making comments and was the first on the scene to tell the fire department that it wasn't him. Which was thing followed by a brief performance of said bum trying to communicate with the canine citizens of the Vogel house by barking and general attempting to induce a dog fight. Important to note that no applause was given.

And several minutes of sitting outside we were permitted to leave re-enter our apartments and were promised that the landlord would be on his way to reset the alarm.

Promise has been kept and now it is back to bed for me.

Rockin' and shakin in the midwest

so I was asleep minding my own business when an interesting sensation jolted me out of my REM cycle. It was something I was all too familiar with....wtf...and earthquake? In Iowa? After it stopped I went back to sleep.

Turns out there was a 5.4 in Illinois. So for all you people who bitch about California having earthquakes...fuck you guys! Now you have tornadoes AND earthquakes.

Just another thing I can add to my list of awesome events while at college.

You are full of massive fail. Anyone know what the fuck is going on? Only Martha called me but I cant seem to find anything on the news or on the iowa website.

Taken from friend's journal

What Gina Means

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life.
You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone.
Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

I am officially a senior. Hurrah! I just have to type up an exam and to finish off one more essay. The most stressful leg of my journey through college is up next. Wish me luck homies!

Dear lord. This class is most excellent but involves a ton of reading.

I am glad my reading rate covers a book a day because reading all of Dracula in one day WITH four hours of class is honestly kind of a bitch.

I am safe and sound in Califoria despite Iowa's attempts to derail my holiday season. Thats right. I'm pointing my finger at you Iowa.

On friday I arrive at Cedar Rapids airport to discover that all flights have been cancelled. Instead I am shipped off on a bus to Chicago O'Hare. I hate buses...I have motion sickness and I hate being on a bus for 4 hours crammed with people who wont STFU.

In short I get to the airport, my flight is delayed twice and I sit on a plane for several hours and BARELY make it back before the Santa Ana airport closes (they shut down by 11pm and if planes are not in, they will be rerouted to LAX).

Home, tired and looking forward to break.

I have a mac, AND got a new cord for my toshiba. Time will tell what happens.

Dec. 18th, 2007

During finals week no less!

Dear LJ peoples. I am typing with the last 90 minutes of power my Toshiba may ever have. It has been quite slow lately and hardly works but sadly the deathblow came from the power cord which has since then snapped near the input (it fell into about 3 pieces and there are broken prongs sticking out). I have since taken to holding it in the socket (I have to push it together as hard as I can and hold) but even that is no longer working.
I'm not sure how easy it will be to find a replacement cord for a computer that was made in 2000. But I know that if I have to do it online...well that is no longer possible.

I am now out of computers. And will probably never see any of you again.

But I love you all and will miss you terribly.

Goodbye cruel world.

Graduation and such

It is entirely possible that I can graduate during July, with no big ceremony and no honors with only a BFA. Everything would be rushed and I would be stressed out.

Or I can graduate during Fall, it would be slow but I would be out with honors, my degree and the minor of my choice.

Even though I wouldn't be graduating sooner, at least I wouldn't be rushed but that would require dropping half of my art classes and finishing during fall. But as a fair exchange I could have a Geoscience Minor (I LOVE ROCKS), graduate with honors, have a more secure future and buy enough time to come up with a plan.

Its really the more logical choice for me if I stay in school and do my work. I wouldn't even have to kill myself trying to do work.

I'm going to go to Evelyn and see if I can drop half my class load (and keep Foil 2, Art of West Africa and Advanced Intalio/Relief) and maybe pick up some Geoscience classes instead.

People have been gettin' all sorts of cranky since I stopped updating.

Um...well I have a phone again...

I didn't really have Thanksgiving this year which was alright. I had dinner which quite frankly I was rather thankful for in the first place. Food is good when you can get it.

My Soul Caliber 3 has vanished. Did I loan it to someone? Because I really miss it ;_; and would like to finish playing. Also I want my Super Smash Bro. and Bloody Roar back cuz I'm on vacation. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Also I found Katamari Damacy again! So if you get bored and would like to roll some shit up into a ball, come see me.
